Chemonics International is a Washington DC-based firm Chemonics International is a Washington DC-based firm seeking Legal Translator candidates for the USAID-funded Trade and Accession Facilitation for Afghanistan (TAFA) project. The purpose of the project is to improve the trade environment for Afghanistan, thereby fostering increased investment, exports, and market-based employment opportunities. The project will help the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan (GIRoA) and the private sector to pursue and realize the advantages of greater regional and global trade linkages and economic integration through three components: 1) trade policy liberalization; 2) trade facilitation; 3) public outreach on trade related issues.
Duties & Responsibilities: 1. Translate various documents of different subjects, especially the translation of procurement documents (letter of condition, offers and contracts) to English, Dari and Pashto in accordance with standard art of translation. 2. Verbal translation services for the administration Department authorities of Attorney General Office in meetings and conferences. 3. Review/ proofread of the translated documents and making necessary corrections. 4. Ensure close cooperation with Administration Department of Attorney General Office, clarifying complicated subjects of the translated documents, and applying changes to the translated documents which often occur. 5. Review, edit, and final proofread of the translated documents and ensuring consistency. 6. Compile Dari or Pashto words and terminologies along with its English meanings that can be used as reference in translations. 7. Compile all translated documents (i.e., laws, regulations, decrees, international treaties) to Administration Department of the Attorney General Office. 8. Work as an advisor with the head of Administration Department in solving translation problems. 9. Translating emails and other corresponding related to AJSRP project 10. Translate bidding documents when required by the supervisor 11. Any other task, assigned by supervisor. |

| Qualifications |
1. 1-5 years of experience 2. Bachelor degree in Law preferred 3. Fluency in English 4. Strong computer literacy
