Nationality: Afghan
The Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock is a key ministry of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan that aims to develop the agriculture, irrigation and livestock of the rural and urban communities.
Avian Influenza: Outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HAPI) CASED BY THE H5N1 subtype of influenza were first recognized in Hong Kong in 1997. Since late 2003, this subtype has been spreading at an alarming rate, from East Asia to Central Asia, and now to the Middle East, Europe, Africa, and South Asia.
The project is being implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock through an Implementation Support Team (IST) that reports to the National Avian Influenza Secretariat (NAIS) and administrated through General Department for Policy and Planning (PPD) in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health.
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Install and operate the database system that has been prepared by the IT specialist in the IST-central office;
2. Report any malfunction or problems that may occur with the database system to the IT at central level immediately and find ways of storing data while the system is being fixed;
3. Liaise with Emergency Response Teams (ERT) to ensure that necessary data is collected in an acceptable format;
4. Together with the Zonal Coordinator, process all communication issues to various parties as instructed by the Communications Specialist or the PC;
5. Keep soft and hard copies of the project database in the zone and communicate all relevant data to the Centre on timely basis;
6. Assist the Zonal Coordinator in the preparation for meetings, taking minutes and assisting with the Compensation Fund documentation; and
7. Perform any other tasks as and when requested by the Zonal Coordinator. |

| Qualifications |
1. This position requires 12 class certificate, diploma in IT or training certificate/s in database management.
2. A minimum of two years of recent experience in database management is required.
3. Experience and exposure to international organizations are desirable.
4.The candidate must be able to communicate in English, and one of the national languages (Pashto, Dari).
5. The candidate should be willing to travel to the provinces as and when required. |
