| Job Description |

Duties & Responsibilities: 1. Implements, suggests and advises on post commercial objectives to identify areas where Canadian exports and science and institutional linkages can be increased;
2. Recommends, initiates and controls marketing program promotions;
3. Proactively establishes communications with local and Canadian businesses;
4. Prepares answers and replies to enquiries from Canadian firms, local importers and exporters and departmental sources and provides assistance;
5. Performs other duties and services such as researching, drafting, preparing reports and/ or replies as required. |

| Qualifications |
Education: University Degree. A background in business administration, economics, or international relations, while not necessary, would be an asset.
Language Requirements: English, Dari and Pashto - Fluent in reading, writing and speaking. Ability to write well in English is one of the most important qualifications for this position.
Experience: Experience fostering relations with private and public sector organizations, writing analytical reports and working in a professional, international setting.
Knowledge: Knowledge of local government and industry structures, major economic and political issues/impacts and institutions, as well as the international community’s presence and activities in Afghanistan plus knowledge of the private sector in Afghanistan.
Abilities: 1. Ability to conduct independent economic and market research; 2. Ability to build and maintain professional relations with public and private sector networks and international organizations; 3. Ability to identify and advance international business opportunities; 4. Ability to represent Canadian interest in meetings and with a wide range of stakeholders; 5. Ability to prepare formal written correspondence and summary reports; 6. Ability to translate documents and articles and to interpret as needed; 7. Ability to use PC's (Windows XP, Office Suites, Outlook, spreadsheets, etc). 8. Ability to speak French would be an asset but is not essential.
