| Job Description |
Nationality: Afghan
BDN as a community-based development organization has already been implementing Basic Package of Health Services (BPHS) and Essential Package of Hospital Services in 4 provinces of Afghanistan; Daikundi (EC Fund), Baghlan, Ghazni (USAID & WB funds) and Balkh (MOPH/WB Fund), entailing a total of 31 districts covering 1,729,770 Afghans through 2 Provincial Hospital, 3 district hospitals, 5 CHC+ 30 CHCs, 52 BHCs, 28 sub centres and mobile clinics and more than 1640 HPs.
Duties & Responsibilities: The Lab Technician will be working at Provincial Hospital /Comprehensive Health Center.
She/he will be responsible for applying up to date knowledge and skills in caring for each patient and family as follows:
1. Examine all lab specimens according to the health facility requirement.
2. Organize and arrange a standard laboratory.
3. Maintain the integrity of the specimen during handling and processing.
4. Report of laboratory results in a timely manner.
5. Counsel and educate patients, the family, and community, in relevant areas of health.
6. Obtain specialized assistance as necessary (consultation or referral).
7. Share knowledge, skills, and expertise with medical, midwifery and nursing students.
8. Perform limited, select administrative duties such as patient charting, recording and reporting of data, clinic and/or facility management, or coordination of specific educational programs.
9. Participate in research, professional organizations and related committees and in continuing education opportunities.
10. Follow established departmental policies, procedures and objectives; continuous quality improvement initiative; safety, environmental, and infection prevention standards.
11. Participate in provision of 24-hour, six-day maternity service, which may require evening, night.
12. Identify and report immediately any problem which interferes in the delivery of services or in achieving the program objectives to his/her immediate supervisor.
13. Participate in weekly meeting of health facility to share information and discuss the program progress. |

| Qualifications |
1. Graduated from Institute of Public Health from.
2. Good Communication Skills.
3. Excellent Speaking, writing and reading Dari, Pashto and English.
4. At least 2 years experience in the same field. |
