Nationality: Afghan
Equal Access is an international non-governmental organization specializing in development communications throughout Asia, operating in Afghanistan since 2002. EAA designs and implements a broad range of multi-media projects to support public information, outreach and social change communications initiatives. We work through a variety of media avenues including: radio (we broadcast to nationwide audiences through both national broadcasters and local radio stations); video (including TV); some print; we also conduct a broad scope of leadership trainings with persons of influence, public forums, media relations trainings etc; we support women’s listening circles; and we have substantial mobile theatre programming with facilitated discussion groups with target audiences. Our country office is located in Kabul with activities nationwide .Equal Access is seeking a Youth Advisor for a proposal to empower youth to better understand their civic responsibilities, to provide alternatives to illicit activities, and to take ownership for the rebuilding of Afghanistan.
Duties & Responsibilities: 1. Designing and implementing a municipal youth strategy plan throughout Afghanistan;
2. Providing Advise on youth programming strategies;
3. Coordinating with Equal Access-Afghanistan, deputy Ministry of Youth and local partners in the provinces regarding the youth programmes;
4. Creating governance awareness, and fostering an environment, at the local level, for greater youth participation;
5. Conducting awareness building workshops and seminars for youth on civic, advocacy and local governance roles;
6.Incorporating youth participation into the economic development initiatives and provide alternatives for illicit activities;
7. Serving as the point of contact and liaison for other USAID/donor-funded youth programs;
8. Coordinating youth participation in all media activities. |

| Qualifications |
1. Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in social sciences, education or a relevant field;
2. Five years of relevant experience working on youth issues in societies with low youth and development indicators;
3. Expertise in strategic planning and assessments;
4. Develop and interpret youth development indicators;
5. Knowledge of best practices and lessons learned in designing and implementing youth approaches;
6. Understanding of youth issues in an Islamic context;
7. Demonstrated ability to conduct programming in a conflict-prone context;
8. Fluency in English (both oral and written);
9. Strong analytical, interpersonal, communications and organizational skills.
10. Previous experience working in Afghanistan is highly desirable;
11. Experience in conflict, post-conflict, or transitional state environments highly desirable;
12. Fluency in Urdu, Pashto, or Dari is highly desirable. |
