The Independent Election Commission after announcement of partial and preliminary result of presidential
election, today Saturday announces the preliminary results of 30 provinces of provincial council election
from (18416) polling centers entered in the system. The other four provinces (Paktika, Nangarhar, Kandahar,
and Ghazni) which haven’t announced today soon will be announced by IEC.
It is world to mention that the Independent Election Commission emprise the transparency of the Electoral
Process in provincial council election and gave the opportunity for (3339) candidates to participate in 2009
provincial council election, among (251) male and (106) female are the successful candidates for provincial
council seats.
As well as all respective provincial council candidates can compare the IEC announced results with received
result from the polling stations and ensure the accuracy of the result, in case of any differences in the results,
in 72 hrs can contact with IEC and ECC.
The IEC prepared for an estimated 15,295,016 eligible voters, of which 37.83% were able to participate in
the Electoral Process of 20th August, 2009. 62.6% were males, 38.4% were females.
Moreover, we should mention that these results are preliminary and may change based on ECC decisions.
The IEC will announce the Final Results as soon as they have received and implemented the final decisions
of the ECC.
In conclusion, the total number of votes processed is 5786117 of which 5570898 votes are valid, 215219
votes are invalid.
